Those of us who grew up in the 60s and 70s will remember Kermit the frog singing his theme song, “It’s not easy to be green”. Green was hard. Green was different and no one wanted to be different. Fast forward to 2016 and green is the sought-after color; the color of choice. Green is the color that demonstrates to outsiders that change is important.

Everything is being reconfigured to include green components whether its green roofs, green infrastructure or green parking. The focus is on green-blue alternatives and on cleaning up our environment to reduce the impact of climate change and level the world a better place for our children and generations to come. The importance of green spaces has been researched and it has been noted that including green spaces enhances work quality, health, safety and happiness.

Green roofs have become mandated by many municipalities and they are changing the landscape of downtown cores. Green infrastructure is the new buzz word amongst the building and developer industry. People are looking to include green alternatives into their projects to demonstrate their commitment to sustainability and to manage storm water where it lands, reducing the impact of the increasing rain events due to climate change.
Green parking and driving surfaces are becoming more and more popular.

Green paving alternatives such as Ecoraster are available, accessible and affordable. Ecoraster can be filled with either gravel or grass allowing for heavy duty vehicle support for many different applications, residential, commercial and industrial.
